The main activities in the lobby and advocacy program will comprise of:

  • Visibilising the women factor in development by capacity building women in leadership positions like MPs, Permanent Secretaries, Regional/District Commissioners, General Managers etc. in media application with a gender perspective; capacity building media personnel in gender and advocacy skills for the effective articulation of the women factor in development in Tanzania and beyond.

  • Publishing the various women led activities through multimedia uses in the "bang style".

  • Raising awareness and advocating for the eradication of the worst forms of Child Labour.

  • Lobbying and advocating for gender mainstrearning and adoption of pro-poor perspective in various national endeavours both at macro and micro levels. This will require strengthening, updating T AMWA' s databases and further base lining activities; and documenting the processes and outputs of the various activities. Establishing and strengthening networking with civil society organizations at various levels, participating in their activities and ensuring adequate media coverage of such activities especially those linked with good governance by dramatizing the best practices, the HIV/AIDS campaign and Women Reproductive Health.

  • Conduct surveys and blow up findings; conduct testimonial press conferences; produce radio and television programmes, all aimed at mitigating on stigma; establish, expose and discourage wrong doings; and advocate for better treatment of PLHAs.

  • Lobby and advocate for policies of availability of free medical services to PLHAs; lobby and advocate for Law on HIV/AIDS; advocate for expanded accessible and quality counseling services; promote Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) through workshops, adverts, public meetings and extensive media coverage; advocate against income generating activities which aggravate HIV infection and publicize the SADC agreement on human rights in relation to HIV/AIDS.

  • Lobby and advocate for pro-poor perspectives by carrying out regular reviews of on going financial sector reforms and influencing for adoption of pro-poor and gender perspectives at various levels; carrying out reviews and advocacy activities with respect to expenditure trends in selected districts with particular reference to social services - health, education and leadership; economic empowerment of women, youth and other marginalized groups.

  • Heighten public engagement on gender and gender related issues through campaigning for poverty eradication strategies; production of surveyed news and features (media watch) production of IEC -T -Shirts, caps, brochures, calendars, press kits; working with various activist groups against gender violence through meetings, workshops, seminars and demonstrations; conducting Tele-Radio/Print programmes; producing media alerts and participating in the preparation of programmes on events like the International Press Freedom Day, International Women's Day, International Human Rights Day and Gender Festival, International Children's/Old Persons Days.
