The
programme pioneered by TAMWA officially took off in June 2002. From June 2002
to May 2003, thirteen women journalists from media women organisations in Ethiopia,
Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania were involved.
TAMWA is the leading
agency of the programme intended to bring mutual exchange to capacity build the
participating individuals and organisations to be able to use the", media
more vigorously and strategically to bring hope to women and children, as well
as the general public in their respective countries. TAMWA is hosting four participants
from EMWA (Ethiopia), AMWIK (Kenya), UMWA (Uganda) and ZAMWA (Zambia).
TAMWA
sent three of its members to Kenya, Zambia and Uganda.
The journalists
whom TAMWA is hosting, during the year under review among other things were capacity
built in the following:
Developing an organisation long term plan
through participatory process
Writing press releases for multi
media (bang style) information dissemination
Writing activity
reports
Writing gender based violence stories to stimulate social
transformation
